X-Men: First Class, 2011
Hey all this is going to be a short review because it's one of the big hit movies that's out now and probably one that many have seen already. So basically doing my job for me really but of course since Transformers came out this week it has caused a lot of waves in the movie world with a lot of buzz and publicity; both good and bad. So slightly over shadowing the some of the other hits in the cinema out now including the X-Men: First Class
So X-Men: First Class the fourth movie in the franchise is more like a completely different start rather than a prequel as much of this movie is completely inconsistent with the older movies. Do I care? No, not really. Should you care? No, not really. This may mark a beginning a whole bunch of X-Men movies and personally I can't wait. This movie as many of you know is about the beginning of the X-men like how on earth did they get those dodgy names from? Oh right they were drunk one night. Makes perfect sense now. So ohk there are more interesting facts about the back story of the characters namely Prof X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicolas Hoult). There were the introduction of some new characters, but they were very underdeveloped, so much so I that I don't even remember their names. This was consistent with the older films as they too had underdeveloped the other characters in the films. Although let's be honest in the older movies there were so many mutants in this movie there was only like 7 a bit more development would be great. Much of the movie was focused on the Charles and Erik (Magneto) and the Cold War playing in the background.
There are some holes in the plot and at times it seems a little disjointed and you're left feeling like what? But you quickly move on from it. Like I said before completely inconsistent with the previous movies but that didn't really bother me. I did get bothered by the fact the Cold War was the backdrop of the movie really pissed me off. I know the general public would not have been bothered by this at all but for me I felt annoyed at the historical inaccuracy, I know what you are thinking, Samira it's a movie about mutants with super powers and you're complaining about the fact it was historically inaccurate? Well no shit genius it’s going to be historically inaccurate? Ohk let me re-phrase that, it wasn't the whole Cuban Missile Crisis inaccuracy about but the whole "I Love America" and "America is so awesome" and "Russians are all evil" bullshit that pissed me off way to dumb it down for the audience. It was clearly more complicated than that.
So those were the disappointing bits of the movie here are the awesome bits of the movie. I love the main characters in this movie namely Charles and Erik - loved knowing their relationship, loved knowing their back story and loved how it all ended. I also really liked the character of Mystique or Raven; she was an interesting character and for sure returning in the next movie. I loved the cast in this movie - an incredibly talented and looking good bunch of actors hopefully we will see more of. And despite the gaps in the plot it was still a reasonable story and a very entertaining action flick with a lot of action and interesting characters to match.
I give this movie an 8/10

I read your review I really liked it. It was different to what I thought about the movie. You should really see the other X-men movies they are pretty good too well at least I thought so. I think I'm just a fan of the whole franchise. Although for some reason I don't consider the Wolfverine movie part of the X-men series. I think its cause it doesn't really include the other mutants (I think)
