The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, 2010

Hello all, I hope everyone's Christmas is awesome and full of holiday cheer and fatty food and over eating. I have been sick lately - came down with something and therefore I haven't had a chance to update much. But seriously my long absences is something that most of you probably have gotten use to.

Well this post is about the latest Narnia movie. You know the one that no one is really dying to watch. The official name is The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader but for short I will refer to it as just The Dawn Treader. I have always been a fan of Narnia and although it hasn't been able to compete with the success of the Harry Potter series, Narnia is still bankable. It's like the little train that could. The Dawn Treader is third instalment of the series. I don't actually read the series and therefore I have no idea when it finishes.
Look, its snowing inside!!

The Dawn Treader begins much like the previous movies with the children. And oh my have they grown up! Susan and Peter are all but adults now therefore no longer really in the picture. Now it's only young Lucy and Edmund. Lucy and Edmund is now living with their uncle and aunt and their son Eustace. Eustace is annoying know-it-all snob who absolutely hates the fact his cousins are living with him. Of course Lucy and Edmund think about Narnia and how much their existence in the real world is horrible. It’s particularly difficult for Edmund, who is of course an angst teenager all the time. But this movie isn’t about their time in the real world so soon enough they end up in Narnia but this time with Eustace with them. They end up on the ship the Dawn Treader who is captained by Prince Caspian. Everyone is surprised to see Lucy and Edmund return as there seem to peace and stability in Narnia thus the presence of Lucy and Edmund at first seem to be unnecessary. But of course they wouldn't have been brought to Narnia without reason, right? Well wrong both the children quickly find out that not all is well as it seems thus they must once again help Prince Caspian to defeat evil and restore peace in Narnia.

Caspian: Why are you so blue??

The Dawn Treader is pretty pleasant watch although in comparison to the previous movies it was a slight disappointment but nevertheless The Dawn Treader still full of adventure and action. But honestly the story lacked purpose and had major holes and the reason as to why the children have returned is a bit weak. I guess they couldn't always have Narnia in turmoil. It was nice to see Prince Caspian return and it was pretty entertaining. But Narnia seems like a dying series as the children are growing up and quickly too. Lucy in her own right is now a lovely young lady and although Edmund maybe too young to be in the army he sure isn't a child anymore. I know with the introduction of Eustace it maybe he who is destined to carry it on? But it just doesn't feel quite right not to have the original characters in the Narnia films. From a production point of view it's pretty silly to have the story that says they can't return to Narnia after a certain age. But I feel like since that they have established a fan base on the original characters they would have to keep them some way or another.

The Drawn Treader is alright, it's not bad at all but its sure isn't something I was jumping up and down bursting to tell people about. I probably wouldn't recommend to adults as much unless there is absolutely nothing to watch but I'm sure the kiddies will enjoy it. It's showing in 3D and I hate 3D so I would have preferred to watch it in normal 2D as making the movie 3D didn't make it better or anything. I suggest that you miss the 3D and watch it in 2D. I give The Dawn Treader, 6.8 out 10, mostly due to effort rather than actual story.
